Range from 1/4 to 1/2 inch with a metallic sheen on their stout bodies. Are very active and can be quite annoying due to their buzzing sound as they fly


Measure around 3/8 of an inch and are a non-metallic gray and have yellow or golden hairs on top, behind the head, and around the base of the wings.


Are very small measuring around 1/16 to 1/4 of an inch long. They are considered "hairy" flies and range from yellow, brownish-gray, or black in color. They are also known as "drain flies" because they tend to breed in liquids found in drains or septic tanks.


Measure around 1/8 of an inch and can be a dull yellow-brown to a dark brown in color. They are known as "fruit flies" because the eggs are laid on the surface of fermenting fruit or vegetables.

Fungus Gnats

Are very small measuring 1/32 to 7/16 of an inch and are usually a black, brown, or yellowish color.


Can be about 1/4 of an inch long and a light gray with four long stripes on the thorax and large reddish compound eyes. Are the most common fly found in houses, hence the name.
